| The leader of the minicar boom of the early 1960s, the Mazda R360 featured the first 4-stroke engine and torque converter in a domestically produced small passenger vehicle, a low-slung smart looking body design, and various unique technologies in the engine and suspension. The car was lightweight, using magnesium alloys in the oil pan and clutch housing of the engine and aluminum alloys in the crank case and timing cover. Independent trailing arm suspensions were provided on both the front and rear axles. |
