The Daihatsu Mira was conceived in response to two trends in the 1980s, namely the rise in demand for second cars, and the sudden increase in the number of female drivers. More efficient use of resources and energy were prime demands, along with a level of function, practicality and affordability that customers had come to expect in a minicar. The result was a new concept: a small boxy hatchback positioned in the commercial genre of vehicles.
The Mira was in tune with the market requirements of the day; belonging to a time where more and more wives were investing their family's money in a second car for themselves. |
