The MBECS-II is equipped with an accumulated-pressure hybrid system consisting of a hydraulic pump and accumulator, which is capable of changing the kinetic energy of the vehicle into hydraulic pressure during braking and converting it to drive force when starting or during acceleration. This system reduces the load on the diesel engine, thereby improving fuel efficiency and reducing exhaust emissions. Compared to standard buses, the MBECS-II emits 24% less NOx, 67% less PM, and 50-60% less black smoke (on acceleration at start). Additionally, in combination with a system that turns off the engine automatically when the bus is stopped, fuel efficiency in city driving is improved by 17%. |
