| Early in the Showa Era, the Model L (large, 2-ton) and Model M (small, 1-ton) chassis were developed for use in trucks and buses as vehicles that would protect Japanese industry by competing against the American cars that were rapidly penetrating the market. The Model M bus was produced in large numbers as a standard Sumida vehicle and is a typical vehicle of the era. The vehicle shown here is a Model M small bus that is stored at the Kawasaki Plant of Isuzu Motors Limited, although many of its original parts have been damaged. |
