| The compact Elf diesel truck that in 1960 succeeded the 1959 Elf gasoline truck was used for local pick-up and delivery and short-distance hauling. The loading efficiency of its cab-over layout and the economy of its diesel engine drew praise, and it laid the foundation for what would become a series of best-selling vehicles. Isuzu continued to develop the Elf, adding new technologies like front-wheel drive, an ultra-low floor, independent suspension, and four-wheel drive. The preserved vehicle is the initial model of the Elf, maintained in working order by Nara Isuzu. |
