| In the mid-1920s, because the Japanese government was promoting domestically produced automobiles as a national policy, Ishikawajima Automotive Works, Tokyo Gas and Electric, and Dot Automobile Manufacturing, in cooperation with the Ministry of Rail Transport, developed vehicle models to the standards established by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Two types of trucks were developed, the TX40, a 2-ton model for urban and suburban use, and the TX35, a 1.5-ton general-purpose model for rural use. These vehicles used Japanese-made parts exclusively, including the materials, electrical accessories, and instruments, thereby laying the foundation for the domestic automobile industry. |
