・ Rear wheel steering systems of Japanese vehicles launched in the market in the late 80's made a case to the world of Japan's advanced automotive technologies. ・ Mazda developed a system for a vehicle speed actuated 4-wheel steering (4WS) system. It had a sensitive small turning performance at low speeds, controllability at medium speeds that allowed the driver to feel as one with the vehicle, and reliable stability at high speeds. |

| Structure, type, means, method, etc. | : | Basic information: Vehicle speed actuated 4WS; Structure, means: Control yoke, bevel gear | |
| Technical overview | : | 1) It substantially improved stability at high speeds and turning performance at low speeds. 2) The steering angle ratio of the rear wheel to the front wheel was continuously controlled according to the vehicle speed. This was realized by sophisticatedly combining mechanical, hydraulic and electronic technologies, thus realizing technology to maintain ideal vehicle dynamic characteristics in all speed ranges. | |
