[Outline] This was an adjustable shock absorber that enabled damping force characteristics to be changed at the driver's seat. [Detail] A world first, it had three features. 1) Standard damping force (soft) for general roads such urban areas, focusing on ride quality. 2) A high damping force (hard) for winding roads and high speeds, situations that require handling stability. 3) The ability to change these damping forces for front and rear wheels simultaneously by operating a switch on the center console in the cabin. The switch activated solenoids attached above the shock absorbers in the front and rear suspensions. The control rod in the piston rod would rotate, changing the damping force by the opening and closing of the orifice. [Setting] Set as standard equipment on some models. |
