A self-diagnosis circuit was provided in the ECU of the electric control system. When trouble occurred in the system, it notified the driver with an alarm, and operated the system in a safe direction until the danger was over by selecting a method based on the details of the failure. ・Front wheel control system: If a breakdown occurred, power to the front wheel system was cut to activate the normal brakes. ・Rear wheel control system: (1) Provided with a parallel control circuit (backup circuit) and prevented rear wheel lock if trouble occurred in one portion. (2) The system increased the capacity of the hydraulic accumulators, and issued a warning if the accumulated pressure fell below a set value. (3) If trouble occurred in the anti-lock brakes, rear wheel lock was prevented using a pressure control valve mechanism. |

| Structure, type, means, method, etc. | : | The system used a computer to instruct the appropriate brake pressure on receipt of signals (slip, speed, deceleration speed, etc.) from the wheel speed sensor installed in each wheel. | |
| Function, effect, etc. | : | The brake pressure instruction from the computer had 5 stages. Optimal brake performance and a comfortable brake feeling could be achieved according to the driving and road conditions. | |
| Technical overview | : | The system controls wheel lock on emergency braking to stop the vehicle in a stable posture without side slip or spinning while cornering or driving on snowy or frozen roads. | |
| Features | : | On emergency braking, the system performed antilock operation at most 10 times per second. | |
