Mazda Technical Review No. 21 | |
| Introduction | : | Compared with previous rotary engines, the RENESIS featured substantially improved fuel economy and cleaner emissions while still realizing high output with normal aspiration. This was enabled by adopting innovative technologies such as a sequential dynamic air intake system and side exhaust port. The inherent characteristics of rotary engines, i.e., compactness, lightness, and high performance, were further advanced. The engine was used in the Mazda RX-8, a no-compromise sports car based on a completely new concept featuring 4 doors and 4 seats. | |
